Welcome to CrossFit AGG.
Arlington area’s first official CrossFit affiliate located in Jacksonville, Florida

We don’t use isolation exercise equipment, expensive stair steppers or elliptical machines. Nor do we have wall-to-wall mirrors or a snack bar (I don’t think the setting would allow for that anyway).

We do, however, offer is a very effective workout program that focuses on making you better. Whether you want to lose weight, build muscle or generally feel better, we can help. Our
equipment is simple; our routine is functional and transferable to daily life applications. Furthermore, the workout generally lasts no more than 30 minutes and is more effective than spending hours on isolation movements or long “cardio” sessions on a treadmill.
In fact, you will typically warm up, workout, cool down, and be on your way in about an hour. The exercises may initially seem simple but don’t let that fool you. Actually do the work and judge for yourself.  At CrossFit AGG, you will be trained by a certified
CrossFit trainer in either one on one or small group sessions.  No longer do you need to worry about planning your workout – we program the workout for you and help you perform it safely and effectively.

Bold City CrossFit

Bold City CrossFit is a training facility located in the Mandarin area of Jacksonville, Florida.  We offer an environment inclusive to all physical training needs.  We train with athletes, police, fire and military personnel, teachers, lawyers, doctors, stay at home moms, grandparents and kids.

This is not a typical “Globo” style gym! You will not find rows upon rows of confusing exercise machines, elliptical machines, mirrors or the “muscle heads” that check themselves out in those mirrors and no distracting flatscreen TVs.  What you will find is your neighbor challenging you to beat him on a deadlift max; friendly competition.  You will find a friendly environment where you are considered family and dedicated coaches teaching small groups dynamic, functional movements which emphasize full body motion.  Our coaches train all physical level skills; we modify the work out of the day by degree not kind.  Training is varied everyday and compliments the ten general physical skills:  cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy.

By committing to Bold City CrossFit you are ridding yourself of all the common excuses.   We don’t want to hear “I cant’s” or “I don’t have time” or “I haven’t worked out in so long.”  We are here to coach you and lead you to a better you and a better life.  When you commit to Bold City CrossFit, we commit to bringing out the athlete in you.

CrossFit Jax Karen Edenfield

In Box Shots on August 30, 2010 at 12:42 am

ATHLETE OF THE MONTH – AUG: KAREN EDENFIELD

CrossFit JAX congratulates Karen Edenfield for being the Athlete Of The Month this August 2010. Karen is one of the most consistent and dedicated members at the box. She is also one half of the CFJAX Edenfield Team, with her husband Harry being our ‘resident expert’ on everything having to do with the Concept 2 Rower. Together, they are one hell of a duo (even though they have never worked out together at the same time…but that’s a different story!). A tough as nails kind of gal with always an excellent & positive attitude when she steps foot in the box, Karen is well deserving to be recognized as our Athlete Of The Month. We asked Karen a few questions about her training at CFJAX, from the first day she came in until her most recent workout and this is what she had to say:
“I started at CFJAX at the beginning of the year but didn’t get serious until around mid-February which is when I ran the Donna Deegan Breast Cancer half marathon.
My first WOD consisted of sit ups, air squats and push ups for max effort in 2mins repeated for 3 rounds…or something like that. I was happy they were movements I could perform which gave me confidence.
I’ve ran a few races around town, various 5K/15K/half marathons for many years and I’ve competed in sprint & Olympic distance triathlons as well. As a kid, I competed in waterskiing (slalom, tricks & jumps) and have won on the National level. I pretty much trained myself in those days, but with family/work obligations my training frequency would fall off. CrossFit meets my need for intense training, as well as fulfilling my competitive desire to improve on my PR’s. I go on certain days and times to the box and everyone in my family knows that its my outlet and release. I go, get it done and feel better about life. Sooo, if I’m happy then everyone in the family is happy!
My favorite lift is thrusters! Strange, I know. I also like deadlifts partly because it’s one of my strongest lifts. But now all these young girls are passing me by! But I enjoy learning and improving my technique on all of them. I struggle with the snatch, but I will get it!
I really enjoy the hero WOD, Murph (without the vest) and I like Fight Gone Bad too. My strength would have to be endurance. I also enjoy the rower. You would think I would be better at rowing, considering who I’m married to, but I do not take to private coaching/critique at home very calmly…plus, rowing is harder when your short!
The last thing I want to see on a WOD, would be a long row, mainly because I have to learn how to pace myself. I can’t do rope climbs or muscle ups either.
I get ‘that feeling’ when I look on the website each day for the WOD! I get fired up if it’s a workout I’ve done before. It makes me look up my previous times/scores to try and beat them. But after several months of training I am no longer nervous. I know I can finish the workout even if I have to scale it (and I hate to scale it!). But I still get ‘that feeling’ when I walk from the church parking lot to the doors of CFJAX.
I participated in the recent Zoner’s Challenge so I’m anxious to see the impact it will have. We usually eat fairly healthy but we do partake in an adult beverage every now and again.
Zone is more my style. Our household has a problem with sweets. The zone really has curbed my sweet cravings. I am never hungry when I’m on the zone.
I am in awe of everyone that walks through the doors at the box, especially the women! Being one of the older members I am just happy to finish the workouts. But I am very competitive and I do like comparing my times/scores to the other ladies. I only wish I had started CrossFit when I was younger. I encourage everyone to give it a try…I even wish my soon-to-be 13 year old daughter to join!

CrossFit Valdosta

In Box Shots on May 31, 2010 at 10:39 am

History: CrossFit Valdosta was the 3rd CrossFit to open up in Georgia and the 1st in South Georgia.  CFV was started in my garage and backyard.  We quickly grew out of the small space and then landed in our current location.  I have been in the fitness industry for over 7 years as a Personal trainer training hundreds of people.  When I came across CrossFit 3 1/2 years ago, instantly I was hooked.  3 years ago I made the best decision I could make and took a CrossFit Level 1 Certification then I never looked back.

Life:  After a catastrophic accident while training for a triathlon, I chose to make a bigger difference in peoples lives by educating them on the importance of functional fitness.  Using CrossFit as my primary source for Physical Therapy, I have made leaps and bounds in my rehab process.  CrossFit gives me a challenge and a positive addiction to work toward everyday.  I truly live and breathe CrossFit.  CrossFit also lead me to my wonderful and beautiful wife Kate in which I’m truly thankful for.  She is the most amazing woman I know.

Teaching: At CFV we train men and women of all ages and backgrounds who want a challenging experience while raising their fitness levels. I assess each individuals level of fitness while teaching fundamental and advanced functional movement.  I believe that CrossFit is for everyone and that it will truly change your life mentally and physically.

About

What We Do

CrossFit Nocatee is not your average health club or globo-gym We do not pride ourselves on taking your money and hoping you never show up. As an officially licensed CrossFit affiliate, we want you here. We take pride in seeing you get results. Sorry, there are no big fancy machines, no shiny pink 2 lb. dumbbells, classes are not choreographed to music and there is no one walking around with a clip board. Rather than training specific muscles or cardio, we train for better movement. You will first learn mechanics, movements, function and form; from there we will up the intensity and weight, and you will see results no matter what level you will come in at! CrossFit is not easy and doesn’t claim to be. It is hard work and it requires perseverence, determination and consistency. The overall program is simplistic in design and optimizes physical competence in each one of the ten recognized fitness domains; Cardiovascular and Respiratory endurance, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance and Accuracy. CrossFit founder Greg Glassman sums it up like this:

Fieldhouse Gym

In Box Shots on April 6, 2010 at 12:15 am

What is Field House Gym?

Field House Gym is a fitness facility located in Jacksonville, FL that was developed to celebrate the athlete. You were born an athlete. Everyone was. Over the years, and several “I’ll start tomorrows” later, you have strayed off course in achieving the best version of your athletic self. But, you are still an athlete. Therefore, together, we will chip away at your days and months and years of procrastination one workout at a time and dust off the best version of you.

Mission

To provide the world’s best physical training that revitalizes the body and mind and gets each client back on azimuth to genuine fitness, wellness and vitality.

Method

Simple. Functional. Performance-based. Ever-changing. Fun. Running, jumping, throwing, rowing, pulling, pushing, carrying, lifting, climbing and any combination of each. Isn’t that what we were made to do? Only the implements, distances, times and weights will change.

How is Field House Gym different?

Field House Gym differs greatly from your normal Fitness Center or Gym. You will find no: mirrors, plasma screen TVs, complicated machines, lines of treadmills or people hanging out for hours during a workout.

Traditional lifting programs like back/bicep, chest/tricep, legs/shoulders, etc. also will not be “whipped up” by one of our trainers. Programs such as these have gone the way of the dinosaur and have been scientifically proven as ineffective compared to CrossFit training methods. Each client is considered part of our family and will be concentrated on until he/she feels comfortable with their progress.

All movements done at FHG are going to be dynamic, functional movements with the emphasis on full body motion to maximize athletic performance. The training atmosphere is supportive. We are all learning all the time. The training variety will change day to day to maximize aerobic and anaerobic stimulation.

We believe in this methodology of training and we are sure that you will elevate your threshold of pain, wellness, psychological strength and overall confidence in life. Train hard and consistently, and results will come.

We coach individuals and teams, athletes and professionals from basic to advanced classes in athletic development – specifically: cardio-respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy. The methods that take place at FHG will no doubt produce dramatic results to those who are willing to meet the daily challenge.
