Hopefully this past weekends events has re-charged everybody’s CrossFit Battery (cheesy I know) and you didn’t forget about the proposal of a throwdown to see whose box has the fittest bunch of 6 athletes. I’ve been talking with a Reebok representative and there will be big cash prizes to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams, as well as other potential give aways, mini competitions for spectators and fun stuff like that.
Just to remind you, I wanted to issue a challenge for each box to send their 6 fittest athletes (3 guys, 3 gals) to compete for the overall title of “fittest affiliate team in Jax”. The competition will kick off on Saturday, June 23rd, 2 weeks after CrossFit “Hope” which is the new Fight Gone Bad event, also being held at CFSS. It will be a 2 day event with 2 workouts/day. One of the workouts will involve 4 people from the team, while the other will be the remaining 2 people.
With me so far? The only stipulation that would be different than the normal team competition at Regionals is that the people who competed as a pair the first day may not compete as a pair the second day. You have to prove you’re well rounded. Otherwise I’m looking to set up registration within the next 7-10 days via Southeastfitness.com.
Beyond finding the fittest athletes we will also have a scaled division where you can submit another team of 6 to compete with modifications made to the workout. Unfortunately these modifications will not accommodate all levels of ability. Plan on the scales being lighter weights or different degrees of difficulty (kipping pull ups vs. chest to bar… but not all the way down to bands, got me?).
RX teams will be $30/athlete, while Scaled division will be $20/athlete. All athletes will receive a T-Shirt with a pretty Bad Ass Logo if I do say so myself… Additionally Coaches are not excluded from this competition, so if you own and run an affiliate and you’re one of the fittest at your box, suit up and throw down. No excuses afterwards of “well we didn’t put our best team out there…” just kidding… but really, BRING IT!
Lastly, volunteers will be greatly appreciated from people helping with registrations to people wanting to be judges. Volunteers will also receive T-Shirts with the same Bad Ass Logo, so why wouldn’t you volunteer? Other than that I will be trying to get as much free stuff for your athletes as possible and treat everybody like Rock Stars, and hopefully promote local businesses at the same time.
If you’ve made it this far in the email and have any questions, suggestions, thoughts, comments, concerns, or words of wisdom PLEASE, send them my way.
